Code of Conduct for all Staff at Technology Books for Children

  1. Introduction

 

At Technology Books for Children we are committed to fostering a professional, respectful, and inclusive environment for all staff, volunteers, beneficiaries and stakeholders. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected standards of behaviour in all interactions, both online and in person.

  1. General Principles

All staff members are expected to:

  • Act with integrity, honesty, and professionalism at all times.
  • Treat everyone with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or beliefs.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts to management.
  • Promote and uphold the values of the organisation in all activities.

 

  1. Online Behaviour

When representing the organisation online, staff must:

  • Communicate respectfully and professionally on all digital platforms, including social media, emails and virtual meetings.
  • Avoid sharing confidential or sensitive information without authorisation.
  • Refrain from engaging in online harassment, discrimination or inappropriate discussions.
  • Ensure that any personal views expressed online do not reflect negatively on the organisation.
  • Use official communication channels for work-related matters.

 

  1. In-Person Behaviour

When interacting in person, staff must:

  • Treat colleagues, volunteers, beneficiaries and partners with respect and kindness.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct appropriate for the workplace or event setting.
  • Refrain from any form of harassment, bullying or discrimination.
  • Follow all organisational policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
  • Report any misconduct or concerns to the appropriate supervisor or designated officer.

 

  1. Safeguarding and Protection

Staff are responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals they interact with, particularly vulnerable individuals and children.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and reporting any concerns immediately.
  • Refraining from any behaviour that could be perceived as exploitative or abusive.

 

  1. Conflict Resolution

In case of disputes or disagreements:

  • Address issues professionally and seek to resolve conflicts amicably.
  • Use the appropriate internal channels for reporting concerns or grievances.
  • Cooperate with investigations and support efforts to maintain a positive working environment.

 

  1. Compliance and Accountability

All staff must:

  • Read, understand, and comply with this Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in training sessions as required.
  • Acknowledge that breaches of this code may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

 

  1. Review and Updates

This Code of Conduct will be reviewed periodically and updated as necessary. Staff will be notified of any changes and are expected to adhere to the latest version.
