From Scrolling to Success: Making Technology Work for You

In today’s digital world, technology is everywhere at all times. From the alarm on your phone that wakes you up in the morning to the light switch you turn off when it’s time for bed. It’s almost impossible to escape it!

However, some people are still unaware of how important technology is for the human race. Today I’m going to outline how useful technology is and how I use it to be more efficient and better my life with it.

How long do we spend on our screens?

There is no denying that we all spend time on our phone just scrolling through social media or playing games that don’t help us. But did you know, on average, we spend 6 hours and 40 minutes on our phones. That equates to nearly 2 days of our week! Yet we could spend a fraction of that time while getting much more done if we use it to our advantage.

How much time should we spend on games and social media?

The average person spends 2 hours and 24 minutes of their day on social media (according to Demandsage). That is almost a third of our screen time and 10% of our day. Most of this is spent on apps such as TikTok or Instagram or even Facebook. Spending this much time on those apps can be seen as unnecessary. In my opinion I believe that we should limit our time on social media to a maximum of 30 minutes per day. This would drop the average screen time to 4 hours and 50 minutes per day, which is plenty of time to focus on being productive.

What can we use our phones for?

Our phones have many different features that allow us to use it for almost anything you want. Here is a list of things that we can use our phones for:

  1. Finding answers– browse the internet to find that celebrity you can’t seem to remember or to answer all your questions.
  2. Socialising– want to catch up with your friend or family, you haven’t seen in a while? Well, you can always text or call to catch up.
  3. Ending arguments– one google search always seems to find out who’s right and who’s wrong.
  4. Booking activities– from skydiving to 5-star restaurants. You can book it all online!

How can technology help us become better people?

Using technology, we can have near unlimited knowledge. With the use of online courses, educational apps, podcasts and Youtube videos. We can constantly learn new skills and as technology keeps on adapting and innovating, the more we will be able to learn.

On top of that, there are apps like Yuka, that allow you to see how healthy various nutritional, cosmetic and hygiene products are. This will help us be more conscious of what we are consuming/using to help us remain healthy.

My final thoughts on technology!

In conclusion, technology is a wonderful thing that we sometimes  take for granted. I hope you all learned something new today and this will give you the potential to make the most of your experience with technology.

Your exploration of technology’s role in shaping children’s books is both timely and incredibly thought-provoking. It’s fascinating to see how technology isn’t just a tool for innovation, but also an integral part of sparking creativity and expanding young minds. The idea that technology can be woven into stories and learning materials for children is such a powerful shift. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities where kids don’t just read about the future — they engage with it.

I particularly appreciated your point on how interactive elements can transform a child’s reading experience, not just by providing entertainment, but also by encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In a world where digital devices are increasingly part of daily life, the way you highlighted how children’s books can blend traditional storytelling with new technological features is a brilliant direction for education.

Moreover, the concept of fostering a healthy relationship with technology through books — rather than shying away from it — is something I wholeheartedly agree with. It feels like we’re not just preparing kids for the future, but making them active participants in shaping it. Your article has certainly inspired me to consider the potential of these tech-forward resources and how they can help nurture young minds to grow with both creativity and analytical skills.

Thank you for sharing such a comprehensive and forward-thinking perspective on this important topic. I’m excited to see where this blend of storytelling and technology takes us, and it’s clear you’re on the cutting edge of that journey.
